It is Nevada and I keep the setting really low. So I thawed it out, coil foam sprayed the condensing unit and blew pressured air through it. Now Im just leaving it off for awhile. I hope that fixes it and its not a leak

Feels fuckin' bad man. There's nothing worse than the sudden lack of AC once you get used to it.

My A/C died the other week, but fortunately the 90 degree weather stopped.

at least that gives 9 month's before that shit goes on again. plenty of warning time.
it's going to get colder which is good, not so much for the rain which i'm going to try my new accessory against.

if it works, will be able to play pokemon go in the rain.
if i had 3 hands that hand umbrella would of worked.

it wouldn't just have been the line

the entire condenser coil was likely a block of ice

that happens when you're low on refrigerant

which happens because you have a leak, likely in the evaporator coil (ie not a repairable one)

autumn is the best time to replace your HVAC, installers are trying to sell out their stock and will offer reduced prices, and have fewer customers in general so they'll cut hourly labor rates

Its just the line, I checked the entire coil. Only the line leading to the compressor unit had ice on it. I used to be a refrigeration tech years ago I would have noticed

if you used to be a tech and are certified why don't you just check the pressure levels on a manifold gauge?

sidenote, the icing starts at the evaporator (inside), not the condenser (outside), so if you hear reduced airflow when you run the fan immediately after making the discovery, you can bet that the evaporator is a giant cube of ice that is leaking refrigerant

just be glad it's happening in september and not july

Because I said years ago. That was when I lived in Illinois. I work law enforcement across the country now. I have no tools for it or anything. The most I can do is put soap on the lines and check for a leak

tbh the most you can do is run your furnace fan with the AC off and see if the airflow is reduced (and improves over the course of 15-20 min as the airflow melts the iced evaporator)

Okay, it was like 84 inside. Turned it on to 75 and it went down and cycled twice to 75 within an hour

praying it was just overuse in his hot weather wheres its been basically 100
