If you care about the climate and you're not on board with that you're living in a fantasy world that bends the laws of physics.

I'm all for battling climate change, but a lot of people really need to research what they're talking about when it comes to energy. Sunshine and wind turbines can't sustain the demand for energy, they're supplemental sources for a reason. The sun doesnt always shine and the wind doesn't always blow. Even if they did it still wouldnt be enough(not even close).

Wind and solar also require massive amounts of real estate and resources to build. That means leveling forests and digging up the resources to build them, which requires energy(oil)

Nuclear is the only realistic alternative to fossil fuels we have available to us at this point in history

Fusion rocks. Well in 50 years it may. It's always 50 years in the future until controlled nuclear fusion reactors will be operational. Including 40 years ago it was 50 years before we get them.

Nuclear is a vital part of our future energy profile (reliability and availability is key), but I think you've overstated its role to a degree. Nuclear plants are expensive and take decades to come online. We don't have time to wait that long. We need to invest in wind and solar today, AND kickstart nuclear so it's ready in 20 years when we've inevitably failed to meet our targets again. The only solution is "all of the above."

Nuclear energy will definitely be needed to meet global energy needs in the absence of fossil fuels

We're never getting off fossil fuels. I mean Id love for that to happen but anyone who thinks otherwise is fooling themselves. Our society is too dependant on them and people (including me) are too lazy, greedy, and short sighted to try to fix it.

maybe, maybe not. but if the discussion is about transitioning away from fossil fuels towards more sustainable energy sources, nuclear can't be off the table. I can tell theres no engineers involved in any of those green parties around the world that want to abolish nuclear energy on top of fossil fuels
