The internet is DIVIDED over whether this large feline spotted climbing over the fence of a Washington DC home and leaving deep claw marks is just an oversized cat or a MOUNTAIN LION as experts hit back that IT ISN'T a lion....

DC Lawyer, Giulia Di Marzo shared security footage of this animal as it jumped over her fence on the a Georgetown neighborhood.

Hours later she saw her security cameras and the cat clawing its way to the top of the fence around 4am on Sunday and she posted iton her blog writing "Does not look like a domestic cat..looks like a mountain lion too"

This prompted wildlife experts to weigh in and determined the large cats not a mountain lion

Tommy Wells, directory of the the District's Energy and Environment said mountain lions dont have stripes on their tails and proportions of the animal seen are "magnified by the camera" and they're confident it is a domestic cat and the camera appeared to have distorted the size.

Chris Schindler,VP of field services at the Humane Rescue Alliance said they found no signs of a big cat

Residents also said they have no reports of a mountain lion or similar size of the animal in the area but twitter is still divided on the animal..
