but that reality is actually a simulation indistinguishable from real life, would you seize that chance? You cannot go back to real life

You're given the choice and told that when you enter the simulation, you will immediately forget that it's artificial. You have zero chance of ever discovering you're in a simulation. The simulation begins just like any other day for you. All physical sensations are intact. If you want something, the universe will contort itself to get it for you. You could be whatever you wanna be. Filthy rich, superhero, space man, cowboy, whatever

You have the chance to say goodbye to your loved ones. You don't have to tell them where you're going. Once in the simulation, your simulated loved ones will be perfect copies of the real ones.

basically would you live in the matrix if the matrix robots let people do whatever they want and kept them to completely self contained worlds

The thing that the Matrix got wrong was that robot overlords would be the ones to do this to us. (I only watched the original, so dunno if the story changes later).

In reality, this is gonna happen, but instead of robots, it's gonna be entrepreneurs selling the Matrix to people in exchange for their bodies as resources.

So I'm married to Ronda Rousey.
We grew up together.
We went to school together.
It's literally the perfect dream I've have before.

Now I'm fucking sad it won't be real.

as tempting as this is, I think I wouldn't be able to do it

for multiple reasons. but mostly cause even if I forget it's not real, before i go in, I know I am leaving my loved ones forever. and the effect it would have on THEM even if I don;t remember.

also the idea of lying to my mind doesn't seem right. I'm actually one of those people who wants to know the truth in all things whenever possible. I don't like to be tricked into false things. like, this would be the exact opposite of my desire to know the nature of the true reality. I'd just be going deeper in instead of coming closer to the truth. so no. I wouldn't do it.

Absolutely not. I have too many people in real life who I care about to abandon them for a fantasy.

IMO wouldn't the robots rather use something that produces more heat and won't care about a simulation? Something like a damn COW?! Stupid robots.

How's this gonna work? We all know that people who are rich, famous, seemingly have everything they want still get depressed. How is this simulation going to handle that? Inject me with chemicals or something?

it would be kinda impossible to go into the logistics of something like this. let's just say that you wont get depressed

it would be the perfect life. that means it isn't for sure to be something simple as "you are a big hollywood super star". it's whatever you truly wish for in your heart of hearts

like if Robin Williams had done this, he would have had something different from his actual movie star existence that he as depressed in.

it scans your brain and is able to sift through your subconscious. it includes stuff like superpowers and infinite wealth, so idk how someone couldnt find their perfect life unless it was highly paradoxical or something
