b-b-but I thought it was all poor brown people who were cheating the system to get into Harvard!

I've said something along these lines in every topic I bothered arguing this on CE, and that's not a self-brag since it's a conclusion anybody with an IQ above 100 could figure out unless they were willingly being ignorant. It's dead ass obvious to anyone who attended college or talked to others who went through the process that it's only a meritocracy for a small percentage of the student population. For everyone else, it's legacy admissions, having money, athletic scholarships, or the big bad somehow only for dark skinned minorities affirmative action taking up all of the spots that could have gone to all da countless smart white students even though they somehow always seem to make up an alarmingly small percentage of the overall student population. But yeah AA is still somehow the number one problem preventing a meritocracy

I sure can't wait for our good friend Coffeebeanz who clearly thinks out every post she makes and never gets flamed to hell over it to pull out another dumbass graph showing raw percentages of race admissions for medical school that don't take into account other obvious factors like how many people applied to the school or what school it was since the prestige of the school drastically affects admissions.

Some details from the study:
Note that the total share of admits that belong to one of the ALDC groups is 29%

ALDC here is "athletes, legacy, Dean's list, and faculty", and among regular students, AKA the remaining 71% of the student body, black students area admitted at over 60% higher rates than white students (4.89 vs 7.58) - see table 3 in the study. Regular students also recieve financial aid at a rate of 73% to 93% whites vs blacks (table 4).

In fact, regular non ALDC black applicants made up the HIGHEST group in terms of acceptance among any group in the study, even though they are BY FAR the largest group to apply with poor grades (9% with an academic score of 2 or higher vs the next lowest being 16 for Hispanic, around 45 for whites and 60% for asians) (table 5).

They also mess with the data considerably by looking at "NON ALDC" versus "LDC" and cutting athlete admissions out of their accept rates for some reason. They leave Athletics out of most of their analyses entirely when comparing rates, until all the way down in table 10 where you can see that ALDC black students are actually accepted at a higher rate than their peers.

If you look at their analysis of what admissions would look like with "preferences removed", but keeping affirmative action, black students in every category would see admissions rates twice that of white students.

So maybe it's just me, but its almost like the TC is pushing an agenda not backed by the data at all....

How many black students are applying in the first place? I haven't been in college since 2013, but I went to a high ranked school and I was one of the 2 black guys in my major, if you combine 2 class years. The school was still dominated by white folks in undergrad, and grad school was even more dominated by Indians and Asians.

Mind you, this is an engineering school, you HAVE to do some discrimination if you want a balanced gender ratio at the very least. And this is important for a good school atmosphere. At one engineering school a friend of mine went to, it's was something like 8:2 in favor of boys. The women there, regardless of their looks, were treated like queens and acted so due to the sheer amount of attention they got. Do you really want to spend your 4 years in that kind of world?

Unless I misunderstand what the D stands for in ALDC, presumably all of the Dean's List kids are getting in on Merit as well. There's no reason to include that and not Athletics, especially when you're doing things like comparing non ALDC to ALDC but then excluding Athletics from that comparison.

I cited specific tables in the report. If you're really unhappy with the conclusion, then maybe go to the report and compare the results and tell me where I got something wrong.

But that would be work, so instead you're just going to read none of it.

Well I can't help but notice that after that post, your empty bitching towards TC stopped and sonicfan finally gave you something to piggyback on as another channel for revenge or whatever it is you're doing right now. Maybe both of those lining up is just coincidence but it looks like I finally made difference in this world.

I have a whole lot of snark in my tank too, but let's try to stay on topic if it's not too hard for you. I don't have the time right now to read through 100 pages while at work, but I'll be sure to check back in when I do and also see who else you can piggyback on since babby can't make his own arguments it seems.

But that would be work, so instead you're just going to read none of it.
