It happened while they were riding their ATV's in Connecticut at 8pm as both men and a friend were riding separate ATV's in the closed off Tilcon quarry.... At one point, Steven walked a few feet from the CLIFF'S EDGE to look at something and stepped on uneven ground and grabbed onto the ledge as he plead for his son's help to save him. Dan Siracusa was told Mark saw his dad stumble and hanging onto the ledge and immediately tried to grab him but couldn't carry his dad up and they both fell down together on the rocky ledges and jagged rocks below and said it "wasnt a soft landing at all" The friend who has not been identified raced to a nearby Subway to call authorities In the 911 call he said "They fell off the side of the cliff. His dad went to look at something and tripped. His son went to grab him and they both fell. He's not breathing" The friend had to lead authorities to the horrific scene due to the tough terrain Siracusa said the friend is very shaken as he watched both his best friend and held his hand as he passed. He said Mark risked his life to save his dad and grabbed onto him and wouldn't let go and got pulled down Steven worked at Siracusa Moving & Storage before retiring 15 years ago but still did odd jobs with them. He also lost a SON 2 years ago in a motorcycle accident and lost 50lbs due to cancer treatment and had a clean bill of health Mark is survived by his wife and 3 y/o daughter as his wife is very distraught over the death Do you think you'd have the upper body strength to lift someone up who's dangling from a high ledge? Hard to imagine a scenario where it's like in action movies where they are literally being held hand to hand over a green screen cliff and pulled up effortlessly by wires. Not many people would be able to do that in real life...not even many top athletes. This was probably a situation where the older man fell into terrain near the top of the cliff that was hard to navigate back up for someone his age, and his son tried to help him up the steep hill and they both fell. Or the friend wanted to be with the wife, but that is neither here nor there. I've always wondered how many accidents in the middle of nowhere at cliffs aren't accidents.
