Calorie science is so bogus. It's not really. It's just that people seem to forget that the "calories out" side of the equation is not static and very hard to measure, not to mention all the difficulties in tracking "calories in" well. --- CE's Resident Scotsman. https://imgur.com/ILz2ZbV ... If you're losing weight, then you must still be burning more calories through physical activity on a regular basis than you are consuming on a regular basis. You don't eat enough. That's all there is to it.

If you cut your calories too low, you will slow down your metabolism. That's why it's often suggested to increase calories but not so much that you will maintain or gain weight. You have to find a "right spot" and then keep altering it based on weight loss.

Calorie deficits yield weight loss, calorie surplus yields weight gain.
But the type of calories you consume matters too. Protein is the most satiating and is used for rebuilding everything in the body; muscles, bones, hair, skin, hormones, enzymes and DNA. Fat has 2x more calories than protein and carbs, but is more efficient as an energy source for the body to use, and is also necessary for the brain and nervous system to function. Carbs are divided into sugars, starches and fibers... sugars and starches can be turned into energy very quickly, but if unused it gets stored as body fat... fiber has no caloric value and simply passes through the body while supporting a healthy GI biome. Obviously if you want to lose weight, you cut the refined grains, sugars and starches. And you eat protein, fat and fiber. --- "Your flesh is a relic, a mere vessel.
