30 y/o Christopher Lemley from Lousiana was arrested after he ADMIRED his childhood friend's PISTOL and then accidentally SHOOTING HIM IN THE HEAD when it suddenly went off!!

He is charged with negligent homicide as the fatal accident happened at midnight on September 14

Earlier in the night, he had been downing beers with him and taken a Percocet Pill that he does not have a prescription for

While with a group of friends at his home,he asked if he could look at his childhood friend's pistol that was loaded

Witnesses said he pulled back the gun's side and squeezed the trigger at the same time while looking at the weapon.

When one friend alerted him that the gun was loaded as he tugged the gun's slide back, the gun suddenly went off and hit his friend directly in the FOREHEAD.

That man was taken to the University Medical Centre New Orleans for treatment by paramedics but had diedon the way

Lemley waived his right to remain silent and told officers about the shooting and admitted to be drunk and taking Percocet but had no recollection how he fired the pistol

Townsend Meyers, his attorney said it was a "tragic accident" and that the man that was killed was his best since childhood and is absolutely distraught

He was given bail of 15,000 and posted bond for his release,

Seems far-fetch but I cannot imagine what the various road rages, department store fights, Black Friday sales, little league games, etc. etc could escalate into if more people were strapped. Sounds ridiculous for me to suggest these could escalate into a western style shoot outs but between that sense of empowerment from being armed AND letting emotions run wild, who knows how bad it could potentially get. If an average non-violent person cannot follow basic gun safety, I would not trust society as a whole that is armed.

Damn. That guy wont ever be the same.

With that said... my dad use to take me hunting and Ive learned how to be around firearms like a professional. I dont own any guns, nor do I care to... but if I had to be around them I would know the dos and donts.

Now that I got that out of the way... why the fuck did they give a drunk guy a loaded pistol!? Why the fuck was it not in the gun safe?

Its funny how when taking up Japanese swordsmanship they drill into you the proper safety habits as well as a deep respect for the sword, even one that isnt live. But some folks dont show a fraction of that respect to gun ownership.

They were probably hammered, too. And the gun coulda been in a safe place, and they just retrieved it. Who knows.

I've been at parties where everyone is drunk, and drunk people start showing off their guns. Luckily, they were military people who had safety ingrained in their mind. Still a bit awkard.
