PK did a troll topic about this already, so you're basically riding the last car on that troll train.

He's a crappy pick for Batman, but that's what I also said about Affleck... which, in retrospect, hasn't been a great pick for Batman. Of course, I also said that about Christian Bale who, admittedly, was also a kinda lousy Batman. And I said that about Clooney, who was a gloriously bad Batman whose performance hearkened back to the days of Adam West.

I don't like Robert Pattinson and it's somewhat mindboggling that he got the role, considering that his non-Twilight films haven't been huge draws (in fact, quite a few of them lost money) so he's a weird pick.

You're super late to this particular party.

But at any rate, being Batman isn't a guaranteed ticket to respect. He might be good in the role, he might be bad in the role. He might even be good in the role, but the movie itself winds up being terrible like so many other DCU films, and thus he gets blamed for its failure. We won't really know how good or bad a fit he is for the role until after the film is actually made, though.

Ehh, both of those are true, honestly.

The whole reason why DC did their recent stupid "Oh, there's actually been three different people who call themselves the Joker the whole time" storyline was in an attempt to reconcile the fact that sometimes the Joker almost seems like a playful goof, and then other times he's a straight-up serial killer, and then sometimes he almost seems sympathetic.

I wouldn't necessarily say either interpretation is objectively correct, or any objectively wrong, though. I like Heath Ledger's Joker, but I also like Cesar Romero's Joker, and Mark Hamill's Joker. But it is worth noting that Romero's Joker really wouldn't work well in The Dark Knight, and Ledger's Joker would feel jarring as hell facing off against Adam West. So tone is definitely a factor.

I don't mind Jack Nicholson. I just feel like he wasn't playing the Joker as much as he was playing Jack Nicholson really, really high on cocaine.

But he sort of falls into the same archetype as Hamill's Joker, for the most part.

For the record, though, this is obviously the best Joker:

Regardless, he wasn't a box office draw for the film and, in general, he was a relative unknown at the time. His role *in* the movie may have helped secure him the top spot in Twilight, but he wasn't responsible for making or breaking the movie.

Box office performance is literally how studios make decisions. Big studios are less concerned about art than they are about profitability, unless there's a law that lets them write off 100% of their losses which is why Uwe Boll was able to make terrible movie after terrible movie for years.
