Board 8 > When you use your switch, do you mostly use handheld or tv mode?

I think when I first started using it I was almost exclusively using TV but I think in the last year or so I pretty much only use handheld mode. It feels about as clean and I like the fact that I can just kinda curl up and play it in small amounts. Kinda wondering if others are similar to me and pretty much just do handheld now

I didnt include tabletop in the title just because I havent found it all that practical at the moment, but I probably just havent played the right game for it.

Holding the Switch in handheld mode makes my hands hurt after like 15 minutes and the controller grip in general is awkward so I actually use tabletop over it whenever it's an option.

Otherwise TV just because of better controller options. Not actually a very good portable system imo

I strongly prefer handheld, but my joycons have connectivity issues that I haven't tried to fix that make it difficult, even though they work just fine in the actual controller-like thing.

I usually play it on the TV unless I feel like doing some toilet gaming.

I almost never use the handheld mode. If I ever take my Switch out of the dock, 99% of the time it's to take it to someone else's house and put it in their dock.

It's like 50/50 for me. My commute is like 2 hours, so I'll take it with me on the days I go in. But I prefer playing on a TV when possible.

Also I've used the tabletop mode maybe like 3 times. At one point I started talking to someone while waiting for a train and we ended up playing Smash in tabletop mode on the train. Felt like a Switch commercial.

Pretty much exactly the same as me. Handheld mode is one of those things you don't expect to enjoy until you try it out, then it's amazing.

There are still some games I only play in TV mode, but a lot work just fine in handheld.

And I've used Tabletop about two or three times to play a few quick multiplayer games with someone...just like in the cheesy Switch commercials.

I've hooked it up to the TV a grand total of three times in the nearly 2 years I've had mine. Anything that can be multiplat, I'll buy on Switch just because I so strongly prefer handheld gaming.

I suppose I'll put Pokemon Shield on the TV once just for the novelty of it, though.

I mostly used it as an HDish mobile game system

Usually TV, but if I'm feeling particularly lazy I'll switch to handheld and play it in bed. The exception is if I play TWEWY then it's 100% handheld. It's borderline unplayable in TV mode

Maybe 50-50. I don't commute with it but it's great for road or plane trips. There are also games I play with the touch screen, and some mostly 1P Smash Bros when I don't have the TV. Astral Chain is strictly TV and that's been monopolizing it.

I'll definitely play Pokemon on the TV just for the big screen experience.

Handheld but it's because the TV upstairs it's connected to has really bad input delay for gaming

Mario Maker is the only game I've used handheld more for regularly.

I gave it a go for the tv mode earlier, I guess the best benefit is that the pro controller for the switch is so good

Used to be 95% handheld which is why I sold my OG model for a Lite. Very satisfied with the decision. I basically just play in bed or on the couch while I have sports on the television.
