Quina in general feels like an afterthought, hell, the first time you can recruit them *is completely optional*. You're not *required* to get Quina until later and even then they never contribute anything to the story.

Zidane literally thought Quina died in the Cleyra explosion, and then just went along and moved onto the next task

What if Quina was the main protagonist of FF9 and they had made the entire game a frog catching simulator instead

I like Freya. Good in battle, but also the character herself. I get that she's just along for the ride after this point in the game, but enh.

Also, trying to figure who my main party will be, once I get to the point where I have options.

While Steiner and Marcus are arrested. It took me awhile to figure out the logic of how to bust the thing, years ago.

the big moment in which Steiner finally doubts Brahne is due to his trust in Vivi. There's no doubting the kid.

Marcus dgaf about Dagger, despite traveling with her. What a jerk.

Steiner flipping out over the Queen betraying him is a big moment. This game encourages you to think of him as a foolish old guy who hinders everyone's progress, and then they get around to making him a sympathetic figure.

Trying to remember if the game gives a reason why no ones left the mist continent in recent years. I'm assuming it's because it's hard to see through the fog, and navigate your way through the sea. Given that the airships run on mist, the only way to get around otherwise would be by boat.

Couldn't they have tried something like checked for a potentially traversable part of the mountain or tried to walk around the thin area between the building and the end of the bridge before settling on getting married

Something that pissed me off years ago, both on my first play and through replays, was how dead the world is outside of the first continent. Mostly, you have pocket communities, ruins, and a vast amount of overworld. On this particular replay it's bothering me less, probably because I've known this game for so many years that it's not like I was expecting anything more.

The plot twist as to why the world is so dead never pacified me any.
