Hi guys, I just wanted to make a poll to see what people have as their favorite fictional setting. The most popular setting that a lot of games use is medieval fantasy, but what if most people have a different taste other thid one?

I wanted to put more but I couldn't put more than 10. So, if a setting you like is missing, just tell me below ok?

I picked Medieval Fantasy.

As a Dynasty Warriors fan, I was thinking more Chinese Medieval type thing, even though at least some of Dynasty Warriors is based on History.

Despite liking XCOM 2 a lot lately, I mostly dislike today's setting with fantasy/sci-fi fantasy. I use games to get away from life and not to get reminded of it. Sci-Fi, with all its futuristic tech, still has enough of the modern day reminders that makes me turn off from it a little.

I enjoy stuff thats kind of a cross between specific historical periods and fantasy

For example I just watched Carnival Row and enjoyed it a lot. Its purely a fantasy story but the setting is very much inspired by London and Europe and I feel like that grounded the story in ways that fantasy tales are sometimes lacking

The choices are kinda weird. Some are absurdly broad, others overlap, etc. While I'd like to say that I prefer high fantasy, that's a pretty broad umbrella and technically my favorite genre is horror so low fantasy would probably come closer (since it can include dark fantasy)

Gothic horror (example Castlevania)
Cosmic horror (H.P. Lovecraft)

Cosmic horror kinda isn't its own thing the way you seem to think it is. And Castlevania is a weird pick for an example of gothic horror.

Low fantasy

Today's setting with fantasy would be an example of low fantasy. Harry Potter, for example, is low fantasy (although it's sometimes referred to as low-high fantasy since, despite taking place in an altered version of the real world, it incorporates an almost-separate world)

Medieval fantasy.

Quality matters obviously, but I've been in love with the aesthetic of combining medieval times with magic and monsters for as long as I can remember.

So many favorites to choose from among the list. I'll go with sci-fi but I love all/most of those choices

We are on the same boat on this one, probably the main reason I hate Persona, playing a game where you are a student where you go to school, study, have exams and all that. While I want to get away from being a student and I have school and exams and all that crap, not being reminded of it every minute, it immediately turned me off.

Basically I should say if I wanted something realistic or reality, I could go outside or whatever, fantasy in full throttle if you ask me.

AAAALLL OF THEM!

Classically I've loved Medieval fantasy the most, but I do love that magic in an otherwise normal modern world fantasy.

Easily scifi, I really enjoy the themes and moral questions that are brought up, and resolved in a reasonable way.

I swear I learned more about morality from Jean Luc Picard than I learned from adult relatives and school and religion combined.
