17 y/o Deserae Turner, the heroic teenager from Utah who survived a horrific shooting to the HEAD and left for Dead was crowned HOMECOMING QUEEN at her high school as her peers cheered loudly from the stands!!

She was escorted onto the football field at Green Canyon High School in North Logan by her father, Matt and was joined by Case Gehring who was crowned homecoming king.

Walking onto the field seemed impossible considering the shooting 2 years ago when 2 of her classmates hatched a plan to KILL HER because they found her ANNOYING when she was flirtin with one of the attempted murderers on snapchat. Colter was the one who said he was annoyed by her while Jayzon suggested killing her and said they could "get away with it"

She had to undergo 10 brain surgeries and had to learn how to walk again and was very lucky to be alive.

Now 20, Colter D. Peterson and Jayzon Decker lured her into a creek as they plotted to kill her before Jayzon shot her from behind and left her in a ditch to die. A passerby found her and called 911 immediately where she was rushed to a hospital and survived.

Decker had responded to Peterson that it would be "easy" to get rid of her and originally planned to slit her throat but then they decided it be quieter to shoot her.

They were playing on XBOX ONE while conducting their murder plan and Decker kept the shell as a "memento" and it was displayed in his BEDROOM WINDOWSILL.

The 2 freaks were sentenced to 15 years to life in prison

Deserae told the judge back then that she considered Peterson a friend as she did karate, rode horses and played the saxophone and felt betrayed by his trust and that he would do this

Deserae had to attend school parttime and did most of her classes online as she had no idea that the nearly 1400 students voted for her

She said "It was a lot,but it was so worth it. I truly wish every one of us high school girls would be able to experience such a magical night"

She already has a BOYFRIEND, named Logan Matz who met a 4H State Contest a couple summers ago and said this was a night to remember and is on track to graduate next summer and hopes to attend college next fall.

Seriously. I get people out there can be crazy and impulsive, especially young people, but why even try to kill her unless there was something major to cover up. Wouldn't be surprised if the true motive was the adult guy tried to rape or even fucked her and was trying to avoid being found out and registered as a sex offender. If she was the only one who knew, even though she managed to survive, the brain damage she received from the bullet could likely make her forget.

TBH, if I hadn't read the story I wouldn't have known she had surgery - glad they were able to do such a good job and that she kept going with her life :)

Heartwarming story, but duckbear's terrible titling distracts from it a bit
