2019 is a mentally sick man who is completely misunderstood by everyone around him. Even when he is elevated and recognized it's for reasons he never even intended. His murders aren't badass or masterfully planned. They're cowardly and sudden. The guy spends the majority of the movie wanting to die and is miserable. Even when his life makes sense to him he's more giving into a delusion than actually turning his life around. Even his final speech to Murray doesn't sound badass. He sounds like a broken, desperate man lashing out.
TDK Joker on the other hand basically accomplished everything he sets out to do. Joker never makes any statement about how society treats him. He makes statements about society itself. He steals millions of dollars and burns it all. He turns the saint of Gotham into a villain just like himself. He forces Batman to be turned into a symbol of hate and solely to give Gotham some sort of false hope. His final moment in the movie is outright laughing at the anguish of Batman as yet another sick plan of his goes into motion. It's funny that after all of this moral panic we get a movie about a broken, mentally ill man instead of a sophisticated master manipulator that we've had in the past. Even Nicholson Joker is more glorified in comparison. I don't think we will see people trying to feel badass saying Arthur Fleck lines in front of a camera like we did for TDK. --- Kind Regards, Darmik ... Copied to Clipboard!

Like is the paranoia about Joker inspiring killers or another mass shooting in America because those are very different concerns. You can't send your kid to school in America without worrying about mass shootings. I think the sad thing about mass shootings in America is that people are so desperate to predict one and it never happens when people expect it to.
