Joaquin Phoenix's performance was incredible. He's really weird and uncomfortable to watch and all around disturbing. But the rest of the movie... I don't know... I feel like it's almost something great. It comes just shy, and there were things in there that didn't really need to be in there... This is a hard one for me to recommend. lol If you're in the mood for a real downer, and can handle shocking amounts of violence, I guess you could do a lot worse?

Edit: Also the moral panic over this movie is a bit overblown.
