It can be ****ed up, but it depends. A bully who comes to his senses, atones for his sins, and eventually becomes successful isn't particularly ****ed up at all. An unfairly-bullied person who never recovers and rots is ****ed up, to be sure.

But there's a third category to consider: people who aren't bullied, just unpopular, but never learn the difference. And if nothing else ever gets them off the path toward rot, then that's what they do, and that isn't ****ed up, it's just sad.

Bully learns in college that this behavior is no longer acceptable. Becomes fratty bro instead.

Goes on to lead successful life.

Tells himself he earned it all and those who are poor and downtrodden just didn't work hard enough and need to pull themselves up by the bootstraps.
