There is very little explanation on how to find/do the "story" missions. But to be honest, all it takes is a little investigation in-game. I picked it up when it went F2P and was very lost for the first couple days and didn't really know what to do. And then I randomly went to the tower to pick up a couple bounties from the gunsmith and realized I hadn't actually explored the tower at all. So I just figured "what the hell, I'll just go talk to all the important people labeled on the map and see what they do." Found that holliday chick in the hangar and bam, I've suddenly got direction. Basically, they don't hold your hand because they assume you will go talk to all the NPCs. Which really isn't that big of an assumption, tbh. That's just generally a good idea in most games, and I'm kind of ashamed of the fact that it took me 3 days to do that when I'm normally very thorough when it comes to talking to NPCs in games. So honestly, I feel like my initial confusion is thoroughly my own fault. Bought both Forsaken and Shadow Keep yesterday because I'm enjoying the game a ton. And now that they've split from Activision and seem to be trying to make the game they wanted to make from the beginning, I'm more than happy to support them. Destiny 1 was such an amazing experience before Activision decided to force Bungie to tell the playerbase to go fuck themselves. I'm very glad to be able to go back to the series now that it's in proper hands. I've got a huge amount of shit to do before I consider the expansion. The gunplay is insanely tight for sure. I do think they should've had something in-game pointing you to Amanda Holliday for the previous campaign stuff, that was one I had to google and would've been a bit obtuse to find on my own. The rest I think has so far been fairly simple, but I'm only a couple hours in. Amanda Holliday in the tower starts the Red War or vanilla storyline. She also starts Curse of Osiris and Warmind campaigns. If it's green or blue, it has a static roll and you can open up your menu and go to collections -> weapons to draw it back for 20 light lower than your average light with highest gear. Purples/legendary can be static if year 1 and be reacquired as above. If it's purple/legendary and has random rolls, it can't be pulled from the collection's tab and it will say can't be acquired if you were to try and pull out of collections. Save your purples in your vault for now, might have a random roll that is worth saving Some weapons are considered world drops where they are in numerous loot pools. Others are available from certain activities or vendors like Devrim Kay on EDZ sells a set Year 1 weapon a day and the armor set once you have ranked up enough times. Most planetary vendors act this way. Strikes/Crucible/Gambit have their own loot pool and a chance for additional drops from the world loot pool. If there is a weapon archetype you like, I can give more information on what is good perk wise. Majority of your weapons will fall under blues from drops from chests or defeating enemies.
