Pic of my latest watch in natural sunlight:
https://imgur.com/j9vC7TC

It obviously looks like a "high end" watch in the sunlight and is just absolutely beautiful.

First off, the reasons I even "need" a watch:
1. it completes my outfit
2. i can't take take my phone out in meetings to check the time
3. i appreciate the engineering that goes into an automatic watch (powered by kinetic movement, not battery powered, hence the higher price)

now the reasons it's acceptable imo:
1. guys get very little jewelry to wear, it's really just the watch (and wedding ring but that's never going to happen lol). girls can wear thousands of dollars in jewelry, including 10k+ wedding rings...what's a couple thousand on a watch in comparison?
2. i can afford it. don't buy it if you can't. people always say "i'd rather spend that money on traveling", etc. i can afford to do both. if you can't and want to prioritize something else, knock yourself out
3. people always forget: high end watches have HIGH salvage value. I recently sold my entire collection, including some watches i've owned for 5+ years and got back 75% of what i paid. when i sell my latest watches i expect to get back about 90% of the value. say i buy a 2k watch and i sell it for 1.7k after 2 years...that's 85% of the value back and i spent only $300 or $150 each year i owned it...is that really that big of a deal?
4. i'll try to say this without getting too condescending...i have a refined eye and sophisticated tastes...you cannot copy the styles i want for any cheaper. you may get similar colors and something that looks "similar" to untrained eyes...but it is not the same. look at the color of the dial in my pic and you can immediately tell that it is a high end watch and that can't be duplicated for cheaper.
5. i understand what i'm buying: i know the exact type of crystal, lume, watch movement, etc. i've done my research and compared it to the market value. i'm not just paying for a name brand...i know EXACTLY what i'm paying for.

Hey Scof

What kind of activities are suitable for someone who likes being around high IQ but is not high IQ? Like I want to feel like I can "tell time" and shit and etc

Lmao what...

Idk, I don't participate in much: work, gym, pickup and then I'm at home watching tv or basketball. I get my fill of high iq people at work or on the internet. So probably the internet is your best bet lol

i have received more compliments on some shitty michael kors watch that i won in an office raffle than i have on every other watch in my collection combined. a grail watch is nice if you run into John Mayer or something, but for the rest of the world's population they are more impressed by how the color of the watch matches your clothes or if it says the name of a designer brand that they've heard of

Youd be flat out wrong. What do you expect high end watches to look like?

Most people are idiots, what else is new. I wear watches mostly for myself, not for others. Who cares if people dont recognize it and compliment you?

2 out of 5 of your points are in regards to fashion, one of the main purposes of that is to have people see your style. also you made this topic on CE so other people can see your watch. clearly there is some level of importance to you that people notice and enjoy your watch

No. 2/5 of my points are in regard to style. And being stylish is something I do mostly for myself. It's a nice bonus that it reflects a proper impression upon others. But I dont need other people to see it and say "DAMN!". If people see it and think "that's kinda a nice watch" that's perfectly fine. And idk why people always make the argument that because I'm posting here I want a certain outcome...just trying to share an aspect of my life
