I think she saved people from hours in the bathroom and stomach cramps, she's more of a lifesaver than someone who exposed trade secrets and should keep her job while Panera should start making their mac & cheese fresh.

You wouldn't feed that frozen slop to a pig much less pay $5-6 on it, don't eat the mac & cheese there unless you like spending an hour or two in the bathroom. They tout fresh, "clean" food but that slop isn't fresh nor "clean", fix this now.

I miss when Panera was St. Louis Bread Co. and wasn't some kind of hipster hangout. Over the years they started putting less meat on their sandwiches while charging more money for them. I stopped eating there ~8 years ago now.

stuff like this is standard practice in the entire restaurant industry, not just fast food or even "fast casual dining", i'm talking full scale restaurants. all of them used packaged food that has been prepared offsite and shipped. anyone who is surprised by this is just ignorant of how the restaurant industry works.

this, I worked in a kitchen this past summer and basically all of the food is either prepared offsite and frozen and shipped there, or they make it/prepare it there and freeze it and reheat/cook it later when people order it. if it wasn't for this it would take way longer to get your food most of the time

It's FDA approved. Most frozen soup items and similar stuff have instructions to throw the whole plastic bag in boiling water.

Yups. I used to work at Zippy's, a local restaurant chain known for its chili, and guess how they prepare it (as well as corn chowder and portuguese bean soup). Throw a fucking frozen bag into boiling water lol. Customers can buy it at the store like that too, although in smaller portions.

I think Krispy Kreme is one of the few major chains that still makes stuff on site these days. I was honestly surprised to learn that even the Krispy Kreme donuts that you can buy in stores, are usually made locally by one of their shops.

They are one of the few. There's a little pizza place that makes frozen pizzas around my area. They don't do big stores, no chains. They're a small company and they put their product into small companies. Amazing frozen pizzas tho, they were likely made within 48 hours of being sold

Yeah, I buy the Panera mac cups from Walmart just to save buck. They pretty much taste the same whether you microwave, pan-heat or pay for the restaurant to sous vide them. They're not exactly trying to hide it... I don't know why this is a big deal to some people.
