I played it recently for the first time in years, and I found that the controls weren't as good as I remembered, particularly for faster vehicles. It was hard to avoid falling off the buildings on the NYC level, and going into the lava on the Amazonia level. The difficulty was also harder than I remembered, I played the Holland level (which has almost no places to hide) and couldn't beat more than 1 enemy. The weapons and healths didn't seem to respawn fast enough.

Going to play some other levels.

This is a game for the true intellectual; stunted children (liberals) need not apply here. Twisted Metal 2 takes 6 years of the deadliest conflict in human history and condenses them to one $60 package. You are not playing a "shooter," you are playing a slice of life itself.

As you play Twisted Metal 2, you will be overwhelmed with the entire human experience condensed into one 6 hour campaign. You will see battles fought with intense strategic depth (coordinated by some of the greatest strategic minds, such as Patton and Rommel). You will learn history. You will gaze upon some of the most iconic constructs of man. All of this is wrapped up in an emotional story of loss and sacrifice. If I had to describe Twisted Metal 2 in one word, it would be "profound."

However, the true majesty of Twisted Metal 2 does not just end there. It extends to the multiplayer component as well. Wheras the campaign tests your historical knowledge and emotional depth, the multiplayer will test your reflexes, analytical thinking, mathematical acumen, and non-linear thinking.

Competitive matches are fast, brutal, and highly strategic. Your reflexes will be tested, as will your ability to maintain composure under very high stress. After just one match, I measured my heart rate and found that it was at 200bpm; the game pushed me to my physical peak. After two matches, I found that I was started to gain near superhuman reflexes, enabling me to catch a jar my cat was pushing off the counter before the cat even fully pushed it off. After three matches, I was astrally projecting.

Simpletons need not apply here; only the top analytical minds here will be able to keep track of all the various numbers being thrown around, and they will have to be doing combinatorics calculations on the fly in order to fully optimize their loot crate experiences. Some of the most mathematically gifted people will take great intellectual pleasure from just watching other people opening loot crates, knowing that there are so many young people in today's day and age who are deriving pleasure from such probability based math problems.

Overall, Twisted Metal 2 is the total package. It takes you to new emotional depths you never dreamed of, it hones your physical skills to superhuman levels, and it tests your minds with some of the most difficult math problems known to man. I can think of nothing more powerful.

It does... I admit the controls take some re-acclimatizing, but given the level design, I usually don't have trouble judging distances to slide for attacks or turns. The Antarctica or New York levels can be exceptions though.

I absolutely love TM2. Here's some tips.

A shielded Twister's Tornado Spin and Remote Bombs are ferocious. Alternatively, Napalm and special meter mines work as well. That's if you don't want to waste those nasty remote bombs. HINT...remote bombs do enhanced damage to airborne and sloped vehicles

Ice attack then fire a few of Roadkill's Boomerang Missiles are guaranteed to devastate. They do much more damage on the return trip.

Of course...those nasty methods are just not as fun as my favorite way to destroy enemy vehicles.
Turbo Ramming with Machine Guns and Power Missiles as Hammerhead. With or without Monster Crush. Ice attack, guns, power missle, then turboed monster crush is like 40-80% on the vehicles. Add another power missle and MC and it's GG for the 2 armor vehicles. See where this is going? Even heavier armor cannot withstand the repeated rams. You can do this without the special even. It's quite satisfying. Just make sure you ram other Hammerhead, Axel, and Minion directly from the side or you'll be trading thier full power rams for yours.

Here's some facts regarding the 2 types of rams and their varying power related to speed. There are regular rams(max driving speed and max turbo speed). Then there are the Superior (MDS and MTS as well) "Drive Over" rams that can cause a push back/stun effect. You can cause a low damage "crushing effect" while stopped on top of another vehicle. It's easy to test this with ice in some cases. It's generally better to just keep ramming instead of crushing though.

Hammerhead and Mr. Slam have the strongest regular rams in the game. Minion and Axel have very powerful normal drive over rams. Which basically means they are free Hammerhead specials. Hammerhead's special though is identical to Minion's drive over ram. So the both of them have the strongest rams in the game. Axel's drive over, on the other hand, is slightly weaker but still devastating. Especially when combined with "AXEL POWERR!!"

Another thing. If you do the rams just right, you lose no health from the collisions. This is especially important against heavy armor vehicles, Axel, Hammerhead, and Minion. If you do it wrong, you'll just eat tons of unnecessary damage.

You will never slide, skid, or spin out if you master the physics of each vehicle. This includes tight turns. Some vehicles can drive donuts at full speed using tight turn.

Lastly, Grasshopper and her special, are just not very good. Especially vs Axel, Hammerhead, and Minion. You'll drive under their wheels for extreme amounts of damage.

Have fun.
