Yes, you read correctly an Ecuadorian woman has invented a bizarre new ice cream taste: Guinea pig.

And even in South America where the animals are cooked and served with peanut sauce, this might be all too much. But oddly enough the treat has caught fire.

The owner of the stand where the rodent treats are sold claims shes selling hundreds of GP cones every day.

Demand, she said, is expected to skyrocket.

O_o

I mean far be it from me to criticize what other countries eat, but i couldn't even begin to imagine what that would taste like.

I ate guinea pig when I was in Ecuador, but it was fried, so it was very tough. I imagine better preparations could have softer meat. I would never want it in an ice cream (not a fan of bacon ice cream either).

It wasn't as good as rabbit by a long shot, but it's probably an appropriate comparison to make since they're both rodents. And, again, it might have been the prep or the fact that I was a teenager and didn't have an extensive food vocabulary yet. At the time, I said it was "like 3/4ths chicken, 1/4th fish," but I doubt my words in retrospect.
