Had dog food on auto-buy where they sent a bag every month. Well I already have a full bag of dogfood left, so tried to return it under "bought by mistake" and i wrote in the comments, "I have plenty of dogfood, was on auto-buy" and they said, "we will return ur refund within 7 days to ur credit card. in the meantime, you don't need to return the item, go ahead and keep it"

Probably more expensive to restock it, especially a food item. Their warehouses are supposed to have a crazy return backlog.

I don't know their policy but they probably don't want food sent back to them, could be tampered with.

I've been allowed to keep movies and CDs over the years. As mentioned, restocking is more cost than it's worth sometimes.

I got 2 different seasons of 24 on DVD once and they sent 2 duplicates of the same season and I complained and they sent the other season for free but I never had to send the duplicate back.

Amazon usually doesnt take stuff back. They just refund you and let you keep it.
