The exorcist looks legit creepy, the skeletons that inspired Spinal (forgot the movie's name) and the black and white king kong looked all wrong but it somehow made the movie better. The never ending story 1 & 2 special effects looked creepy as fuck but also gave the movie so much mystique. A new NVE with CGI would suck ... Copied to Clipboard!

John Carpenter's The Thing, but that's too obvious a choice. So I'll also go with Hellraiser 1 and 2. Especially 1, and especially that scene from the first movie. I know people that have seen it know what I'm talking about.

But in the prequels, the blades didn't look like they were there, the colours appeared washed out, not what you would expect from a beam of light.
