 I have no idea if anyone cares at all, but I just wanted to share that, over time, I've come to recognize that this scene, more than any other scene in recent memory, does a phenomenal job of firing rapid bursts of personality that sum up characters in a surprisingly eloquent way - especially considering the topic of discussion. In a conversation centered around a piece of grammatical confusion that we've all run into at some point in our lives, we watch these intensely ordinary people exhibit their distinct quirks and run into their various motivations - some people want to be right, some people want respect or acknowledgment, some people have a genuine desire to understand something - every person is trying to manipulate the discussion for their own agenda. And all of this happens despite everyone here having only two or three lines at most. It's really intriguing how an ensemble scene like this does the job of establishing a large handful of characters so breezily. A lot of people have a distaste for The Office, but scenes like this stand out to me as something you never really get in other shows, and certainly never get in movies. Awesome stuff. I watched a lot of the office but I don't remember that scene.

Season 4 is highly underrated; the temp is such a great power-mad villain, and you don't see season-long arcs featuring role reversal like that in comedy often.

Ryan's character development from just a normal dude "above" it all to getting caught up in the machinery of the corporate world is pretty fantastic.

It's actually really interesting to consider that Ryan and Jim start in similar positions, but Jim is grounded in reality while Ryan spirals out of control.

That scene is great, but the humor could use a little more sophistication, like this one.

that silicon valley clip is like the opposite of this topic, even if the overall bit is kind of funny, the characters all felt completely devoid of personality
