Whenever there's a huge line outside. A lot of people go inside the restaurant. Thinking it will be quicker. But it's still the same wait time. The cook has to cook the food in order. I should know i'm just a cook at jack in the box. Don't mind me guys just venting here. <_<

From my experience in food service, drive-thru typically has priority over lobby customers, but yes you should stay in order as best as possible.

I heard mobile orders take priority

Yeah kind of. But they still have to wait in line. Especially if they go to the drive thru.

That's what it was like when I worked at Wendy's as a teen. They have drive-thru times they need to make so they try to rush those orders out as fast as possible. So if anything, going inside is typically going to be slower (albeit not by much). Dunno about mobile ordering and the like now.

Self ordering kiosks here means that going inside always beats waiting in your car to get your order in.

Also, Ive seen them clean the kiosks from time to time so theyre not as fecally apparent as internet would have you think.

Of course, can only speak for the places I go to which is mainly Micky ds that have drive through

But if you can walk in and order immediately instead of waiting in the drive thru to order you queue faster. Also if your food is ready you dont have to wait for everyone ahead of you in line to get their food first

Drive thru and dine-in have separate queues at most locations. Priority is almost always given to drive thru since those times are recorded and reported to corporate offices.

If it's like a 2 or 3 item order then yeah, it'll get out faster. But at my job we give priority to Drive Thru since that time actually matters.

And lol @ mobile orders getting priority. We usually make them when the customer shows up. Leaving 24 tacos out for 40 minutes kinda ruined it for everyone

this is true. your order might get made first but they're still gonna be putting together the drivethru order first before they give you your food. depends on how many people that have tho. usually the cashier will just grab your food for you as long as they aren't taking more orders.

i know doordash/ubereats/etc all have priority over everything else tho. not too sure how it is for a fast food place but i'm guessing that order would get made first. i know every restaurant i been to they usually have the order ready pretty much by time the driver gets there or right after they get there.

Maybe people go inside to have more time to look at the menu without feeling the pressure to order right away.

It really depends on where you are. For example: Tim Hortons usually has a long drive-thru line, but if I park my car and go inside there might be only 1 person ahead of me in the line. That said, I've also been inside a Tims where they literally stopped serving customers in the standing line to go serve drive-thru, even though drive-thru wasn't that busy. They got an earful from the customers in the restaurant for being dumb. I waited for nearly 15 minutes just to get a coffee.

Popeyes is one of those fast food places where dining inside is immeasurably better.

Overall advantage though is not wait times, its that you can instantly complain to workers if you didnt get the right order. With drive thru its such a pain in the ass.

mobile orders dont have any additional priority over other dine-in but we can get better deals. have gotten an extra sandwich or some nuggets with my order.

5$ dave's single for free just by having funds from my mobile app.
only have to remove the pickles, add onion strings and bbq sauce it's good to go.

I have a dislike for the drive through. It's for a stupid reason, but ehh. Like, it seems lazy
