A Group of Pedophiles in Georgia are SUING a Sheriff and accusing him of VIOLATING their constitutional rights by placing "NO TRICK OR TREAT AT THIS ADDRESS" on their lawns!!

3 men who served time in prison for sexual offenses of children and now reside in Butts County and filed a suit against Gary Long and his deputies for their Halloween warning signs left on their front lawns.

Lawyer Mark Yurachek is representing the men, Christopher Reed, Reginald Holden and Corey McClendon and said the signs violate their constitutionally protected rights to free speech and privacy

The Sheriffs put up the signs in the yards of more than 200 registered sex offenders and after Halloween they would go back to collect the signs

Yuracheck says the sheriff and deputies vioalted their rights by trespassing on their property to place and collect signs without consent as the sex offender registry does not call for warning signs to be placed

The signs inflicted "anxiety, embarrassment and humiliation" on the offenders and forced them to endorse speech in the form of the sign that they find objectionable

He said "I understand that there are a lot of people who think this is a great idea, who think, yeah this protects my kids, but what about they should be thinking about is, does this protect my rights?"

Their names and photos and addresses are already displayed for the public ot see and the offenders have paid their debts to society and are NOT on probation and complying on legal requirements

The lawyer said it's easy to pick on these guys that nobody wants to see anything done for but promises if this goes by without a legal challenge and push back, it's going ot get worse.

Long defended his actions because the local chamber of commerce cancelled the annual Halloween on the Square celebration and forcing kids to go door to door to trick or treat and said he did this to ensure safety

In addressing the federal lawsuit, he said regardless of the ruling, he WILL do everything within the letter of the law to protect the children of his community and asking for "prayers" ahead of the hearing

It's stupid considering that Halloween has kids in large groups being accompanied by parents so the risk isn't there in the first place. More importantly, I'd wager that most of these sex offenders didn't touch anybody in that age group because, contrary to Ducky's #fakenews, the move targets *all* sex offenders in the area.

That's for sure not the reason they're complaining.

There's a big ass sign outside of their homes notifying the public that "pedos live here!" (even though as Zeus mentions, it's ALL sex offenders, so even dudes who got put on the list for public urination, for example, the public is going to see it as that)

There's been instances in the past of vigilantes attacking and murdering people thought to be pedos, so having a sign literally on your front lawn announcing you as such is a huge risk to their safety.

This is pretty clearly unconstitutional, and it's honestly disturbing how many people would happily throw away the Bill of Rights just b/c of their strong distaste towards the people having those rights rescinded from.

Ya, the sheriff is clearly committing trespassing... or loitering.. .or whatever crime it is to put a sign on someone's lawn.

But asiiiiiides that. It's halloween, we should ALL put up Pedos Here! signs

Honestly I was expecting the sign to say "no trick or treating pedos here." But no one is gonna know why not to trick or treat there. But I do agree the signs are up yoo early, should only have done it the day before. But they should definitely have looked into the people who were actually pedos and not every sex offender.

Maybe they should be required to keep a sign like that up at all times.

The usual safety precautions should have been enough. Mainly, trick-or-treat in groups or pairs, and inspect candy before eating. Pedos aren't the only Halloween monsters out there.

They absolutely have a point, but this is also why you should have the death penalty. The dead don't have rights you have to respect so you don't have to draw a line where rights do and do not apply (downgrading them to privileges).
