Yes I'll bring something and contribute, even if they don't ask. My parents raised me right.

I usually don't, but I understand that it's a custom when being invited to dinner and certain specific occasions. I feel awkward bringing stuff, though, especially since the tradition is something like booze and I'm morally opposed to contributing to that industry.

It does matter, though. There are different social expectations. If it's somebody's birthday, I would bring a gift. If I'm just stopping by to hangout, nobody is expecting anything.

I'll offer to bring something and bring what I'm asked to bring.
Sometimes I'll offer to bring a food item or something the person may have forgotten to pick up at the store, like extra soda, ice, or a loaf of Italian Bread, or maybe dessert.

This depends on the context. Like a lot. Is it a party or a dinner? Whos house? How long am I staying? Stuff like that. Because if its a party, I might not bring anything. Or I may bring drinks. For a dinner, I might bring wine, or cook something. Or just go. Depending on whos house, I might change what I cook. Going home, I bring my games. If Im spending the night, Ill bring clothes normally. Unless Im going over to drink and will just pass out on the floor. Stuff like this matter...

I'll bring something when not asked for the most part. If I'm coming over to just "hang out" then I don't.

Depends on whose house I'm going to, who's going to be there, and what we're doing.

I'm more likely to bring snacks if I'm going to a friend's house and it's just going to be 2-3 people or so hanging out, and if it's an "occasion", than I am if it's just a couple people hanging out, or a lot of people.

I used to have a "Sobriety Kit" when I went out to parties where I was planning to drink heavily. It was a bottle of water, a bottle of Gatorade, and a can or bottle of soda, so I could offset the depressant effects of alcohol with a stimulant, and offset the dehydration. So I could much more easily avoid any risk of getting a hangover the next day.

One time to amuse myself I made a little box that looks like a First Aid kit to put all this stuff into, with a big red cross on top and "Official Sobriety Kit" written on the side.
