Like for instance, I'm at emerald right now and want to start heartgold but i don't think I'm finished with emerald yet

Do you think beating da elite 4 is enough?
Or catching all legendaries plus E4
Or playing lots of battle frontier plus above
Or finishing da pokedex plus above
Or completing da national pokedex plus above

Game completion plus side story content usually, anything else can be done at my leisure for as long or as little as I feel while pursuing other games.

This is true for most games for me but if I feel like the side stuff is a waste of my time or locked behind something I can't do(Looking at you BN1/4 secret area.) I may skip it.

I dont really care for any of those things honestly the game is never over for me. I like to change up my teams and obsess about strategies to play competitive battles while also getting my butt kicked.

I also enjoy shiny hunting but constantly give up.

I could never try to simply catch em all because I hate some of them >_>
