I used to do upwards of 250 a day, but I stopped working out for a few months and had to drop back down. It's a slow, arduous process.
What I do is up my amount of push ups by 5 every two weeks. Id do them during the intermissions too though I'd pyramid the sets to 10 or 12 but i'd usually do the first steps 1-5 all in one because the rest between them would be boring. I'd sometimes group 6-7, and 8-9 then pyramid back down. But even with long rest between matches it wasn't easy starting out i'd finish some of the upper rounds with knee push ups and barely get through those. I suppose you could just do negative or just holding yourself up if you need to which really helped me with pull ups. ... Copied to Clipboard!

I find push ups difficult to maintain form for. Wearing shoes helps though.
