Yeah I find that annoying too. I have to wait to start reading until the video finished loading so I can pause it -_-

I unintentionally started using this more when someone else here said how much they hated it. No idea why. Or maybe, I just started noticing how much I did it

The thing that I don't understand is who watches them. They're usually not even about the subject of the article. Are some people so braindead and zombie like that they'll sit through an unrelated video rather than reading the article they originally clicked on?

Yeah. It's dumb. I do most of my article reading on yahoo and sometimes they'll have a video playing you can't pause and there is thing that says "click here to watch the full video." To me that translates to "click the x to close the tab"

It's not just recipes. It's frickin everything. You Google anything and your resulting article has a damn textbook of fluff before and after the simple dadgum answer you were looking for.

I looked up a recipe for a specific type of sandwich once and I ended up reading an entire article about how the author first found out about the sandwich, the history of that sandwich and how it changed when it was brought to America, his trip to another country to try out the tradtional version, and how he appreciates the original version of the sandwich and the Americanized version. Then at the bottom of all that he finally wrote out 2 recipes for the sandwich lol

@Zikten

If you put @ in front of someone's name on here then it'll alert them to your post. If you don't want somebody to mention you like that then you say "don't @ me". It has nothing to do with gen z lol. The second one is a meme that people use when someone makes a weird statement and its completely unprovoked or out of the blue

The @ thing is not gen z. I tell people not to @ me all the time and I'm basically half gen x and half millennial. I actually have those shut off because when the feature was first added, I would get spammed. I don't want to see notifications unless they are new moderations.

Lmao I just got this:

"Please turn off adblocker to watch video"

Fucking seriously? Do something I don't want to do just so I can do something else I don't want to do? Fuck your video, I don't want to watch it. Adblock staying (these are actually more convenient I wish every article only used this type of video so they would never load)
