And what is the extent of the use? Like there's a difference between using a guide for the whole game and then only using it to get out of that one spot you got stuck in for too long...or only when you're stuck. I personally try to never use them. I will go through multiple sittings of being stuck most of the time just so that I can feel accomplished at the end of the game and know that I did it myself.

I recently had to help my mom's fiance get through the boss at the beginning of 5-3 of Resident Evil 4. Then as I played to get through it I found out that he had been selling yellow herbs without even knowing they increase your life meter. So he was selling them for 3000 pesetas and never even tried them out to see what they did. He didn't even think to just save the game, try a yellow herb and see what it does and then reload if it was useless. He didn't even think to do this?

His sense of adventure is completely gone I guess. That's kind of weird to me. Anyway, there might be a good article out there on this. Anyone know?

I just use them when I can't find where to go within 5-10 minutes

I've used them for those collect all flags thing in Assassin's Creed. But in general I don't use guides.

I used a guide on Persona 5 for the school questions, weaknesses for certain enemies and the optimal answers for confidants/relationship stuff. >_>

So basically I used a guide for a decent portion of that game lol

I don't like to waste time on stuff that is trial and error tbh
