There is no way to possibly know. This is the only scientific answer. Anything else is derived in poor resilience leading to groupthink, or low IQ.

do you agree that all the evidence or all the physical evidence supports there not being one?

how do you say no? explain

because we don't have all the physical evidence in the universe. nor do we really know where it came from. let alone where the big bang came from (even considering that theory is correct)

there is no way to know. period. we lack the intelligence, lifespans, and technology to figure this out. It's possible it's an impossible question to answer

i don't think consciousness persists after death, no. but there is an "afterlife" of sorts, in a sense, when you consider that all matter that exists in the universe as we know it today existed t at the time of the big bang, and will exist in the universe far after we're gone, and the matter that constitutes what makes us right now constituted stars millions of years ago and will constitute other biological and celebstial bodies a million years from now.

yes, but you arent really the matter you are composed of. rather the organization of the matter you are composed of

yeah i kinda agree. I mean have you ever met someone who wishes there was no afterlife? Doesn't mean there is one though if you want there to be one.

True

I have no way of knowing if my stance of "I think there is one" is rational, or if its just wishful thinking.

I felt the "I think so" part of the poll was the most accurate to my stance, so i voted on that.

I have no reason to believe there is at this current time.

Honestly, an afterlife scares me even more than the void. Especially when the most popular religious afterlife features an evil God damning people to eternal tortrue for masturbating.

I think Reincarnation is more likely. I think the gods we see in religion are products of imagination to apply meaning to what we do and any near death visions of god are explained by your brain going apeshit and hallucinating in its final moments. Reincarnation stories have no explanation debunking it as far as I know. If that's fake, then nonexistence wouldn't hurt.

The idea of it happening to you is scary, but once you jump that that hurdle, it seems like the only true peace.

We're humans. We get bored. Unless we're so adjusted so as to not be ourselves anymore, the endgame of immortality is infinite boredom.

It's nothing, and that idea appeals to me. There is nothing positive or negative, it's just nothing. No more thoughts of any kind, no pain, no pleasure, just nothing forever. One day you're there, the next you blink out of existence. Everything you did in life suddenly has zero meaning.

Makes me appreciate life that much more. The desire to live to the fullest is much stronger when you know there is nothing waiting for you. No "eternal life" to fall back on, no second chance, just nothing.
