"I've got some stuff to do, but I can call you when I get back." Conversely, if they were like "No, it's really important, it has to be as soon as possible, could you help me before you go out?", then my reply would be along the lines of "Okay, but if you're not over soon I'm still going to have to head out." If you can't be bothered to show up until I'm heading out, then that's kind of tough shit for you.
