Heard a few things about it

I've only watched it once all the way through but I thought it was great, would put it in my top 5 tv dramas. The first season is a little bit weak and the fifth season suffers from coming after all the planned arcs had concluded, but taken as a whole it's a great show with some very enjoyable characters and plots.

It's definitely worth watching. Although the CGI is probably going to look horribly bad now. I do recommend you stop at the end of Season 4 and skip Season 5 (except for the series finale, "Sleeping in Light.") There's really not much point to Season 5 unless you just really loved the series. In fact, to me, the whole series really wraps up early in Season 4. There's also several TV movies but they're not required watching either.

EDIT- It's also very typical 90s scifi in that each season had like a 22 episode order. So that means plenty of hit and miss filler episodes. The problem is that there's important season arc stuff in the filler episodes, so there's not a whole lot you can skip.

One of the best sci-fi shows and maybe dramas in general, the character development is basically second to none.

Can be a little bit of a rocky start with it looking dated and some sketchy acting here and there but it improves and is overall fantastic.

There's also some really sad behind the scenes stuff that didn't come out to very recently but I can't go into it without story spoilers.
