Just started up a new game, so I have no equipment at this point to limit my choices.
So far I have: 3 skill slots in Two-weapon fighting style 2 skill slots in Scimitar/Wakizashi/Ninjato That is the most it will let me add to either of those skills. But the game is letting me level up, so I'd like to know where I should put my next skill slot, plz. Thanks. ... Copied to Clipboard!

I'd take either flail with an eye towards the Flail of Ages, or war hammer for Crom Faeyr (basically depends on your planned party composition if you have a companion that would be suited for one or the other). The idea being to diversify your damage type to include crushing damage (helps for golems quite a bit)
then use Belm (scimitar) in your off hand for the extra attack per round. --- Posted from my iPhone 8 ... Copied to Clipboard!

Is it likely that I will end up investing points in both flail and Warhammer anyway? Therefore theres no real pressure for me to pick the wrong one this early on, right? ... Copied to Clipboard!

I had 2 points into long bows with my character (more useful in BG1 but you're past that), so I had just taken flail as my 2nd melee. You get the flail of ages earlier in the game so can take advantage of it sooner --- Posted from my iPhone 8 ... Copied to Clipboard!

If you're dual wielding and already have points in Scimitar, then your best choices will largely depend on your party. There are so many good magical weapons in BG2 that you'll want to spread them around your party.
Here are some good options for different weapon types: Flail Flail of Ages Defender of Easthaven Icestar Axe Frostreaver Stonefire Azuredge Axe of the Unyielding Bastard Sword Jhor the Bleeder Foebane Scimitar Belm Spectral Brand Usuno's Blade Long Sword Daystar Flame Tongue Blackrazor Adjatha the Drinker Angurvadal The Equalizer Club Gnasher Blackblood Mace Mace of Disruption Storm Star Warhammer Crom Faeyr Dwarven Thrower Katana Celestial Fury Dak'kon's Zerth Blade Some are, obviously, better than others and some work better in your offhand than mainhand. For example, Belm works best in your offhand, because it gives your mainhand weapon +1 attack per round. So, you can put a stronger weapon in your main hand, like Flail of Ages or Celestial Fury, and give it an extra swing. Crom Faeyr is a similar case, for the 25 Strength. Defender of Easthaven too, because it gives you +1 AC and 20% resistance to slashing, blunt, and piercing damage. You, as a Fighter/Mage may be interested in Dak'kon's Zerth Blade, because it gives you +1 AC and +1 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th level mage spells. So, that could be an extra Chromatic Orb, Melf's Acid Arrow, Slow, and Greater Malison. Weapons like Foebane, Celestial Fury, Flail of Ages, etc are more geared toward main hand. ...
