why not? it ain't hard at all to use the uscan to check out when you have a lot of items.

Until there's a tangible benefit other than "may not have to wait in line quite as long", then no.

Self-checkout always. Get in get out. Unless Im buying things where I actually have to pay in person (electronics, furniture, etc).

why not? it ain't hard at all to use the uscan to check out when you have a lot of items.

In some of the grocery stores in my area, the bagging area is very small and just doesn't really accommodate more than a couple of bags. I realize this isn't a problem everywhere, for instance, when I go to California where they refuse to supply bags, but here it can be. But I'm usually of the "Get in. Get out." mentality.

Self checkout for 1-5 items. anything more, I'll go to a cashier.

it's the exact opposite of this.
They usually put everything in way too many bags and are way too careful.
I want everything in as few bags as possible

People get confused about tender, they put stuff into the bagging area too quickly, they wait around forever fixing their kids' hair or whatever, they realize that it's cash only and don't have cash, the light goes on for whatever fucking reason, etc.

I worked overnight self checkout for Kroger for a couple years, I got really good and fast at using those bitches so I jump on one now and scan my shit out like lightning. I slam those cashier's pathetic elms scores into the dirt.

Self checkout for sure. Usually getting less than 15 things so it's way easier. My Wal-Mart has 8-10 of them open usually. They have like two human cashiers available. So yeah.

If I'm actually buying groceries, I'll order online and have them brought to my door.

If not, then the cashier. You're not giving me a discount for me for saving you on staffing costs, I'm not going to deal with that finicky crap and especially not waiting for when I buy alcohol.

Self check is always faster for me because I'm not an idiot. I can follow instructions.

I use the cashier lane rarely. Especially if I have a ton of groceries and only because self checkout isn't meant for a full cart. (Not enough space)

Depends on how much stuff I bought. If it's only a few items, I use self checkout.

But I always felt that having a person scan your stuff is part of the grocery store service. Some places even pack your stuff for you too.

And now we have to do it ourselves and we are still paying the same price. Whilst they get to cheap out on employing people.

Depends on how many boomers are in line at each. Only use self scan if there are no boomers in my way. They'll take forever, even if their transaction goes smoothly.

If the self checkout will accept cash I use it. If not, cashier. This means I rarely use the self checkout unfortunately.
