Animals, Plants and Fungi all diverged from eukaryotic cells early on in the history of life on earth, becoming the wildly varied groups we know of today.

So my question is, could multicellular life have diverged more than 3 ways? 4 or 5 ways? Could this be the case on other planets that followed a similar evolutionary path to ours?

Or do we currently assume there will only be Animal, Plant & Fungi ( bacteria etc) analogues elsewhere in the universe?
