So here we put several thousand geothermal molecular reproducers on every one of your nations for you. These will keep your climate in check no matter what, curb natural diasters from hitting humanoid populations and create near endless supplies of food, clean water, oil etc as needed. Oh and here's the cure to that cancer thing that was bothering you. Can't believe you guys hadn't found the 197th element yet. Anyway must be off. Bye"

And then before you could spell your name they were gone. Like a kid demanding their dad stop the car and help the ducklets cross the road on their way home from school.

Eventually the waste from all the resources they created from the machines by hoarding it and creating massive prisons, ghettoes, labor camps, famine, disease, and death would overflow the planet and humanity would die buried in a toxic worldwide landfill.

I think we'd just end up with a different set of crises, like pollution or waste management problems from all the shit people would produce.

Also, unless these aliens revealed a fundamental misunderstanding of the laws of physics to us, you can't just reproduce new matter from nothing, so we'd probably find out we were stealing matter from somewhere else in the universe and the aliens we were stealing from would come and wipe us out or something.

owners of any industries directly threatened by post-scarcity of those resources would bribe our highly corrupt, amoral religious leaders into fearmongering their flock of dangerous morons into demanding the machines be sequestered from general society by government "to make sure they're safe"--and if the general public opposed them, they'd actively encourage war and mass murder to those ends

there'd probably then be a sort of behind closed doors secret war among corporations to win the political influence to control them

which isnt that different from the way technological advancement and globalization has impacted people in developing nations.

we could drop all the food needed to feed the world's hungry on them right now, but their leaders would just round up anyone who took the food and murder them, and then stockpile the food in order to maintain their grip on power

access to most critical resources has never been a matter of literal scarcity, but of distribution.
