The Republican party will be dead. Democrats will probably "rule" with a handful of third party members for a few cycles until the various factions start splitting off into their own parties. Hopefully that doesn't happen until after we abolish FPTP though, so we can finally have a functioning democracy with more than two parties.

I'm continually amazed that people actually think you can "defeat" a 2 party system and just have one party that rules over everything. Either a new party will spring up, or (more likely), older dems will become republicans and the party platforms will shift accordingly.
