The article is more of an indictment of contemporary recycling than it is of electric cars.

I'm legit surprised car companies producing hybrids and electric vehicles haven't thought up an efficient way of recycling these batteries right out of the gate.

Contemporary recycling methods that will be made far worse in the future by the sheer volume of batteries being produced for EVs. And since it is several times more economical to just mine new minerals for batteries instead of recycling, used batteries are likely to sit around in some warehouse until peak mining production has been reached and the cost to recycle batteries finally becomes competitive (or someone makes a breakthrough in recycling techniques).

Dig a little deeper next time.

edit: I realize this is only Tesla recyclying, but if you think the rest of the worthless companies out there producing their cheap knock-off electric cars won't follow suit then you're crazy. They won't have much of a choice unless they want the negative publicity.
