I honestly don't care whatsoever outside of that anyone who commits a crime should face the penalty, but I am resigned to the rich and powerful getting away with it.

I'm a socialist, and, Eh. It's important that some record be made of the president obviously breaking the law, and I think in the right hands it would be a politically valuable tool. I don't think the focus on minutiae of Trump's dealings with Ukraine is the best way to accomplish either of those goals.

having each side interpret these testimonies speaks volumes on both sides.

one side exposing "how bad"
the other side exposing "where"

this what happens when politics lose sight of its true purpose. compromise to common ground for the people. president before the last two at least worked together. these days its about how to one up another and blames circle jerk one side to the other.

the politician who brings both sides together is gonna be the best president ever these days because its gonna take a miracle to get both side to agree on something. a miracle or a war.

I don't care for the fact that if the House passes it, the Senate will shoot it down before it even hits the floor. It is just a huge waste of time with how divided our politicians are. The next election will decide more than this process.

It's also important to put Senate republicans in this position. A lot of the purple state Republicans would be risking re-election if stick their necks out for Trump, especially if support for impeachment among voters is high at the time of the Senate trial.

This won't be a bill...McConnell doesn't have the votes to simply dismiss this, that requires a supermajority. It's going to be a full blown trial, presided over by Justice Roberts

Yes there is a trial, and then the Senate will shoot it down the moment it gets to the floor vote. I don't see a republican lead Senate having enough members flip to get close to a 2/3 guilty charge.
