There are douchebags out there that claim the death toll is inflated.

Why would people lie about that? How does that benefit them? Isnt it still one of the most disgusting and horrific times in human history even if you shave off a million or 2?

the thing about the holocaust is that it is very well documented. the nazis were very good at keeping records & a lot of those records survived the war, there are photos and video evidence of the holocaust, thousands of eyewitnesses, plenty of data (both nazi-kept and by other parties) that will show you the population changes related to the holocaust, etc.

so as a result, the whole point of holocaust denial isnt to tell you that the holocaust never happened (altho im sure you can find fringe people that somehow believe that), but that the plethora of info we have about the holocaust has been falsified to a degree. and then the next line of thinking is, who would be behind this falsification, how could we theoretically say they benefited from it, etc. and if you're buying all this bullshit then you are getting led down the neo-nazi rabbit hole.

IMO that is why it's important to immediately shut down holocaust denial rhetoric instead of trying to debate it or w/e, those that promote holocaust denial / neo-nazi views will get a little legitimacy in the mind of some easily duped ppl when their views are treated as another side of the debate.
