It is more body shaming to imply being fat is a bad thing tbh.

Fat shaming is statistically shown to cause anxiety and stress. Children of parents who fat shame or feel poorly about their body have a tendency to develop Generalized Anxiety Disorder, Bulimia, but most importantly depression. Depression generally leads to further weight gain.

Body image and children's psychology is complex and issues like body image should not be discussed in the classroom. If a child's body is tending towards an unhealthy standard professional attempts should be made to correct this course if the parents cannot do so on their own.

People should never be ashamed of their bodies. Self-hatred is worthless

Fat is a common word in the English language. Gotta teach kids what it means somehow

It is not. And it is trolling to say it is.

I mean, I don't body shame people. But it is undeniably more bad than good.

It can lead to long term health problems, and can look quite unattractive to a lot of people. Sure some will overlook it, but it is what it is.

I am not saying body shaming is always right. But I don't see anything wrong with encouraging people to take better care of themselves.

Everyone is ultimately responsible for their own health. And without the right support and honesty, the problems won't go away on their own.

So we're supposed to just pretend that fat isn't a thing now? Is it going to be phased out like the 'R' word?

Stop making these topics.

Nobody that has kids is going to talk about them with you.

Only when talking about women. No one cares if men are called fat.

That's not body shaming. It's telling it like it is.

A simple solution? Use animals to show the terms.

'Fat' is a legitimate word, but children, especially girls, are very sensitive to body image concerns.

this is not entirely true. there are systemic issues at play here -- access to nutritional education and the corresponding healthy food being two of them

It isnt saying that fat is bad. Simply that one is fat. It would be just as much of a body shaming to say that the other girl is thin.

But 'fat' is a bad word. Calling someone fat normally gets a child in trouble at school, yet that is exactly what they are doing.
