Yeah, season 2 doesn't have a lot going for it. If it makes you feel better, season 3 is really good.

3 and 4 are both really good, imo.

2 is the weakest, but it still has lots of good bits and pieces.

It has some good highs but pretty abysmal lows. Unalaq is a terrible and shallow villain who not only can't hold a candle to Zaheer, Amon, or Kuvira, but also breaks the theme of having each seasonal-arc villain embody a major political movement of the early twentieth century. It also tries to recapture some of the worst aspects of Avatar Book 1, culminating in another final showdown of giant spirity monsters and unwelcome deus ex machina. The side stories of Mako, Bolin and Asami sag pretty heavily in the middle part of the season as well, and evem Varrick's presence does little to pick things up.

But as has been said, there's still flickers of gold in Book 2; Book 3 is fantastic, and Book 4 is flawed but solid, with occasional moments of greatness.

I still haven't seen season 4 till this day. I heard some people hate it because Korra and Asami became a lesbian couple out of nowhere.

They started building their relationship in Book 3, and made the foreshadowing that they were developing feelings for each other more prominent in Book 4. You could argue that more could have been done to make it obvious, or that it would have been more rewarding to have them in a relationship during the show rather than showing them beginning their relationship at the very end of the show. But the people who reply with 'oh well that just means they're good friends' when you point out to them examples of said foreshadowing are exactly the kind of people you'd expect to wail and gnash their teeth against something like this.

Overall I agree with your post, but not this point. It was clearly a take on theocracy. Maybe not quite as relevant as a 19th/20th century political/governmental movement, but was still relevant nonetheless.

And tbf, the writer's have said they wanted to do more if they could, but Nickelodeon wouldn't let them.

I remember some saying that about PB and Marceline from Adventure time......................even though "I'm just your problem" is a song that exists

It's been a very long time since I've watched Korra, what's Zaheer supposed to be in this theme structure?

Tbh idc what the creators say, I still dont see it as them starting a romantic relationship. I just see it as a "we dont need a man or romantic relationship to feel like valid or complete people." Type of thing. Like a wholesome platonic love.

I'm pan, and definitely in favor of more diverse romance in media for everyone, but to me it just didn't come across that way.

PB and Marceline was more obviously a thing to me.

That's fair, I can't argue with that. I've never had much love for Unalaq as a character, so I guess I never spent much time analyzing his symbolism.
