I just realized the equivalent today would be designing movie sets to look the way people in the 1970s perceived the future.

The next Superman movie should totally have a Logan's Run aesthetic.

Yeah, that was pretty fun. It was mostly done as a grandfather clause to allow actual guns instead of the lasers found in other cartoons of the 90s. Since 40s Superman had guns, Batman could have guns from that era in his cartoon as well.
