I started watching it on Hulu, but it only has Season 2 so I'm a little lost
Possible Spoilers inbound from here on out, but I'll try to cover the big spoilers.

So I get that Rosanne died from a drug overdose early last season but there are a lot of new characters (I guess the kids?) and the old characters look REALLY old. So did the lottery from Roseanne never happen? Obviously Dan is alive

the Connors is just them continuing to do the show after Roseanne left from calling everyone racist, only they couldn't use the name since that's, well, her actual name.

Season 9 of the original show didn't happen. The lottery stuff was all part of Roseanne's story she was writing.

Roseanne didn't actually die of a drug overdose until after season one of the new show ended. It happened because she got fired from the show between seasons. She said some stuff that hurt some people's feelings and the studio fired her from her own show over it.

so abc cancelled her show, but she managed to make a deal and not fuck over all the other people's jobs who were making the show and agreed to just have herself killed off

Destiny, I forgot the show was originally just a continuation of Roseanne, last season I saw was years ago. Saw Roseanne in The Office, she looked horrible so it was nice to see her looking like herself in the promo stuff.
Hulu should do recaps like Netflix does. It is rare I praise Netflix, but the recap of Breaking Bad before El Camino was done really well. If they can't have the first season of the reboot of Roseanne, I get that, but even a little text sprawl Star Wars style would be nice just to let me know what's going on
