For those who never played it, each installment is a A 5 part story heavy walking simulator series aimed at hipsters

The first game was about a teenage lesbian nerd girl who can time travel trying to save the town from a tornado while balancing being unpopular in college.

And the sequel is about two kids being on the run from the cops but no one played it.

Now you're writing part 3. What do you come up with?

Anyway, I feel like you need a good core gimmick like the time travel in the original Life is Strange, except it would need to be fresh. I don't know what the gimmick is in the second game, if there is one.

Maybe in LiS 3, you have clairvoyance. You'll see events or dialogues play out a certain way before they happen, but you have the ability to change (or try to change) them as you interact with the world and characters around you. There would be details in these scenes, sometimes subtle (like a door being open or closed) that a player could catch as clues for getting an outcome they want.

Maybe you see a bowl of dog food that's been flipped over with the food everywhere in the cutscene, and then when you're playing there are different things that can happen where the food gets overturned (or not), like if you fail to close a door to the house then the dog chases you and you run into the bowl. Or something scares the dog and knocks it over. Stuff like that that makes you think, "Oh so that's how that happened".

And the cool thing would be that you'd have no concrete way of knowing if you're working towards the outcome you want or not, within reason. You could think you're doing all this stuff to keep a kid's parents together instead of getting divorced, but what you did could result in the dad shooting the mom or something.

edit: I don't know what the central story would be though. I think we do need that sort of theme of family and teenage angst... maybe the setting could revolve around a minority teen who grows up in a bad neighborhood and deals with racism or something. Kind of low hanging fruit but the first one dealt a lot with sexuality and chronic depression and mental disorder so they probably need to explore other themes.

Life is Strange 2 established the franchise as an Urban Fantasy Anthology series with a different set of low-stakes but really tense narratives each season. Often the narrative will feature topical subjects as part of the plot, even if said subjects aren't heavily focused on. There's also the set-up with a normal and empowered person, with much of the plot obstacles requiring the powers of the superhuman to advance the story.

Having completed Season 2 just now, I'd say it had a better plot and resolution than the first season simply because it didn't make the powers so integral to the plot. It's just for character building and letting the superhuman do stuff. I'd do more of that if I wrote a season 3. What the plot would be about, I couldn't even tell you.

Episode 1: Boy who's in highschool discovers he can see the future

Episode 2 -4: shit happens

Episode 5: Boy realizes that his true power were the friends he made along the way (and he ends up being bisexual because the game let me romance boys so he must be RigHt?!)
