I was told Pansexual loves everything and is attracted to both male and female.

How is that different from bisexual?

Then I was told Demisexual is when you are only attracted to someone physically after a number of dates.

How is that any different than someone that likes to take it slow?

Demisexual sounds like someone who wants to have sex only with Demigods like Achilles and Heracles.

Pansexual is what a lot of bisexuals incorrectly call themselves.

Think of Roger from American Dad!

Thats pansexual.

Pansexual recognizes and is attracted to persons of all genders and gender identities, bisexual people are only attracted to cis males and cis females.

For liberal feminists and gender activists, 'pansexuality' presupposes that there are multitudinous genders and that the sexes number at least three: female, intersex condition (sometimes split into the categories) and male. They define 'bisexuality' as both a legacy term from before the proliferation of self-identity of gender was popular in society, and a term for people who do only like two genders, but not necessarily tied to biological sex; a bisexual could like, for instance, only the two genders of transmasculine female people and gender-conforming female people in this view, whereas a pansexual would have attraction to all the people and all the genders and sexes.

The demi-sexualities and sapiosexual, etc. stuff is all just trying to belong and be different at the same time. It's a zodiac created by nervous children who were never allowed privacy by their parents, sex ed in their schooling or independent freeplay with their peers.

Disclosure: I don't believe in innate gender and don't subscribe to these definitions, but that's as best as I can cipher from my obsessive placement in the thick of it for the past ten years, as well as a lifetime of dysphoria and dysmorphia.

I really dont get the need to feel like you belong, honestly. But Im almost always comfortable with myself, so I cant relate anyways.

someone wanting to "take it slow" is not the same as not experiencing attraction until there's an emotional connection

Bisexual generally means you're attracted to men and women, but you still have your preferences on the spectrum. Sometimes this means leading to preferring one or the other, and it also sometimes means not being interested in more gender fluid people. Pansexual, on the other hand, means having no bias one way or another about anything regarding their gender identity, sex, or gender presentation. It's just a much broader term.

Demisexual is someone that isn't interested in a person's physical body. They don't have preferences for looks, but instead are strictly interested in personality. Good to note it's not the same as pansexual, because many demisexual people still have a gender preference. It's also not the same as asexual, as demisexual people still feel attraction, desire sex, and act the same as non-demi people, but only after the emotional connection. It differs from just taking it slow because in a traditional relationship there's still typically a physical attraction.

that... is not entirely accurate. lacking sexual attraction to someone without an emotional connection is not the same as lacking interest in someone's physical body

tl;dr

Bisexual = both men & women with a preference for one
Pansexual = bisexual with no preference
Demisexual = requires emotional connection, separate from gender. You can be Hetero-Demi for example.

I should say strictly attracted to, not strictly interested. They still have interest in physical connections, but they generally don't feel attraction to someone's body.

that... also doesn't inherently have anything to do with demisexuality.

part of the issue is that you can find someone to be physically attractive without wanting to have sex with them.

another part is that requiring an emotional connection does not mean that they aren't attracted to someone's body

Demisexual heteroromantic here, probably. Sexual attraction to an individual takes a backseat and tends to take a while to develop compared to emotional/romantic attraction. I also rarely find people I'm attracted to in general.

It's really not a big issue. Just gets a little confusing when people use the label in conversation.

I'm not sure what that entire term means, but thank you for trying to explain how you feel in regards to that. Would you consider yourself introverted? I'm trying to make sense of it. These are things we had a description for growing up and I guess now they have a label to simplify it without needing to explain in conversation I'm assuming? I understand the taking in slow part when it comes to developing emotional attraction. The rarely finding people attractive part just make the term have more sense to me when I think about it. Sure you take it slow, but you're also not really attracted to anyone either initially.

Pansexual I still don't quite understand because bi sexual people shouldn't have any issue with transgender when it comes to attraction. Some straight and gay people don't so I don't see why bisexuals would and why the term pansexual was created to separate the two.
