TL;DR at the end

How it works in Ireland is your doctor gives you a form that says you're unable to work for a certain amount of days and it's literally illegal for your employer and you if you return to work before that date.
You can get your doctor to give you a new form saying you're fit for work if you recover but generally they dislike doing that because it looks like they were either wrong in how long you'd be out for or else it looks like they're writing fake things.

Me: dude, you're literally telling me to work for you, for cash in hand, aka not being taxed or letting the government know, while I'm written out as sick by my doctor for what, a month's pay?

Him: Yes we think it would be a very good use of your time as the holiday season can be quite expensive and as per policy we cannot pay sick pay during an employee's notice period if they are sick

Me: So basically you want me to work illegally twice over, once because I'm written out as sick and two because you'd be paying me cash in hand

Him: Um, well um, it's just we figured that um since your so close to holidays that you'd need the money

Me: Nope, I already planned that you wouldn't be paying me so this isn't an issue. Is there anything else?

Him: Just um, consider it okay? Have a great day!

TL;DR: work wanted me to work for cash in hand illegally so they wouldn't be short a dude

In other words you have a medical certificate, but your boss really wants you to work and is willing to pay you cash.

If you can understand this, I'm 2/cosC for you.

Yes and in doing if I did accept it, I'd be A: unable to get any sort of government assistance relating to work for at least a year if I was caught and B: I'd probably be questioned if I ever had to get government assistance again relating to being ill for work and C: if work was caught they'd be fined heavily

That's why I started laughing on the phone when he started to stutter about how I would be getting the money
The only time I have to talk to them again is when I finish up and get my stuff from them regarding tax

Nah I would do it to get the manager in hot water but I know it would come back on everyone working there with a fucking paycut or something. They're pretty scummy as an employer. I met the CEO at a party the other week and I had him do shots to get him drunk and found out that a lot of the managers were only hired because he had a history of knowing them personally
