A Lancaster man is facing charges after police say he spanked his child.
Derrick Groff, 26, of Reamstown was charged with simple assault and endangering welfare of children after the incident happened at his residence on Oct. 14. The day after, on Oct. 15 police received a complaint regarding injuries to a 4-year-old child. Police say the child had significant bruising on his buttocks. The child received medical treatment for his injuries. During an interview with police, Groff admitted to spanking his child two times because the child was not listening. After seeing the bruising, Groff stated that he was thinking that he "went a little too far with it." Charges were filed and Children and Youth Services were notified. Gross has a preliminary hearing is scheduled for Dec. 11, 2019.
